Ben Stainlay likes to refer to himself in the third person. No he doesn’t.
I’ve been in advertising since I stopped flipping burgers back in 2000. 16 years. Time flies when you’re having fun. And it’s fair to say that I’ve had a lot of fun in this business. There has literally not been a dull moment. It’s also been damn hard work. And if you work in the industry, you’d know that life tends to get away from you in this business – or at least it did for me. Which is why I’m out of it.
Yep. I quit. Left the only thing I’ve ever really done or know how to do, behind me. At least for now. Got promoted to Creative Director last year, did some of the best work of my career and helped build an agency from 10 to almost 50. And then, I pulled the fucking pin.
I’ve done some huge campaigns that I’m genuinely proud of. Worked with some incredible people. I’ve loved it. Not always. But mostly.
But I need a break. And I need to refocus on life. Because you only have one right?
